About PGC

NATE PARRISH

Coach Parrish is most interested in the steady growth of junior golfers to reach the appropriate collegiate level they seek.

With a strong belief in the concept of a true student-athlete, Nate Parrish is an experienced and seasoned former NCAA coach with more than ten years in both men’s and women’s collegiate golf. During his tenure at Sewanee, he turned around a program that had been in the basement of the Southern Athletic Association to one of the best, including two NCAA National Outstanding Freshman of the Year Award recipients—one male and one female—highlighting the best first year golfer in the country. He led six invitational trips to the NCAA National Tournament, and was voted the WGCA National Golf Coach of the Year in 2016 as the outstanding national women’s collegiate coach. He led his teams to win two conference championships and was named the SAA Conference Coach of the Year in 2021.

On the men’s side over the years, he coached four All Americans, three conference All American selections and 41 conference Academic Honor Roll recipients. During his tenure, Parrish led nine male student athletes to earn All Conference accolades, including two earning League Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year awards.

On the women’s side, he coached two All Americans, 17 All Conference selections, 44 conference Academic Honor Roll selections and three All American Scholar recipients. Through it all, his mentoring skills, good nature and genuine care for his players were always evident as he pushed his players to be their very best both in the classroom and on the golf course. There is no one more respected in the coaching community than Coach Parrish.

NANCY PARRISH

There are two words in the term college golf— “college” and “golf.” Nancy Parrish brings eleven years of experience knowing the life skills needed to manage the stresses and workloads of college, particularly those of a collegiate student athlete.

She served two years as the chair of the Sewanee Parents Council and well knows the up and down emotions of being a college parent. She is the mother of four grown children, two of whom played college golf all four years. With both a son and a daughter as collegiate golf team members, including one on the men’s team at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, Nancy can help junior players be more ready for what is to come while away from home. She has walked the walk as both a team parent herself and an NCAA coach’s wife, and gives practical, no-nonsense advice on everything from handling on course performance pressure to best practices on organization and missed classes due to team travel.

Nancy understands Golf is unlike any other sport. She is available to help high school athletes be ready for the academic and social pressures of college, as well as golfers currently enrolled in college and struggling with the demands. Nancy is a graduate of Auburn University.
